NFPA 70E considers a protective suit against electric arc to be a system consisting of protective clothing and equipment that protects the entire body against any risk caused by short thermal accidents.

Certification under the ASTM F1506 standard means that a garment has been tested and complies with the safety requirements established in the standard. The use of clothing certified under the ASTM F1506 standard may help reduce the risk of injury and death caused by electric arc and flame in the workplace

The Instituto de Salud Pública (Public Health Institute) is the verifying entity in charge of reviewing and certifying the veracity of the documents submitted by the supplier of flame-resistant protective garments.
